Product and Packaging AD Final
Inkfirmary is a collaborative brand creation project me and three others worked on for a graphic design class. We started by naming things that interest us. We came up with cartoons, we all love cartoons, who doesn't? Our first idea was to do a cartoon circus but we scrapped that and our other two ideas never left the idea stage which was frog skincare and a casino for cats. We ultimately decided to do a hospital for cartoon characters. After we decided our business, we needed to choose a style, so we did a lot of research on cartoons and animations and chose the rubber hose style for our business. Once we laid the foundation down for this, we started splitting the work up, I was tasked with creating majority of the characters and one of the advertisements.
For the characters we decided to have four main characters and we each create one, I made Ernest Leaps. Ernest is a usual patient at Inkfirmary, I had to include a frog somehow. We wanted to create minor characters as well but didn't know how to pull it off, so I came up with the idea of making them the product of Inkfirmary, so tools.
The first tool character is Donny the Donator, who helps re- ink cartoons. Chic the clipboard gives characters general checkups. Ivan the Inflator helps with flatten characters. Ploot the Plunger helps fix head dent injuries. The Bone Bros replaces broken bones. Finally we have Izzie the Icepack and Ned the Needle as a pair who helps with all illnesses. We also created a packaging for the products which is a med- kit on wheels.
In all, Inkfirmary is a general hospital for cartoon characters, This was a group effort to show brand creation and creative prowess.
Poster Ad Final
For the advertisement I wanted to use one of the tool characters and chose Ned for the ad. everyone has this irrational fear of needles so I wanted to play with that and make a funny little poster ad for the hospital.
