Three Civil Rights Posters final
For this project we were given the task of creating three poster ads for the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel. My first ideas were deciding the subjects for this assignment. There were many options to go with, but I stuck with the main three activist, Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X. I began doing research on each figure and finding what they fought so hard for and how they fought. I also looked at a lot of famous quotes from them, which help solidify my concept, one peaceful, one neutral, and one violent figure.

For the peaceful figure, I chose M.L.K. I started with finding a few pictures of him and came across two I liked. I used the one where he's wearing a suit but I wanted him to throw up his peace sign so I used the other picture where he is throwing it up and photoshop the two. I then used a picture of a group of kids putting their hands together, It fits well with the quote I chose. for his background I wanted something soft and delicate to reflect his nature.

For the neutral activist I chose Rosa Parks. I came across a picture of Rosa Parks that I could use, I started to think about what did in the Civil Rights Movement, so I found this nice picture of a bus and decided to use that. For her background I wanted to do something stiff, unmoving. I was going for this frozen texture to show her unwillingness to give up her seat.

Lastly, the violent figure, I chose Malcolm X. Even though Malcolm wasn't for violence, he wasn't known to go with the peaceful route. I start by finding cool pictures of him and one of my peers reminded me of the picture of Malcolm holding a assault rifle, I had to use that. I then found the quote which goes perfectly with the picture. I put fire inside of Malcolm to reflect his voice. Fire is beautiful thing but it can be chaotic as well. To push the violent side I made the background this burnt texture.
